About aaronbulnes

As you probably can tell from this site is that I like to write about a whole bunch of stuff. I love video games, music, wrestling, The Simpsons, and a ton of other stuff. I'm in my early 20s, but I'm into a stuff that a 10-year-old is.

The Future is Now

I visited Comcast SportsNet today as part of my Sports and Social Media class. It was extremely fascinating to see how a company is still growing and adjusting. It wasn’t a bad thing per se, because the Internet, along with social media, is an ever-changing field.

In fact, the newly appointed Senior Director of Creative Services, Jay Wadhwa, looks at the younger generation for answers. He believes that we’ll be the ones interviewing him for a job in the year future.

Social media is becoming more and more important, and Wadhwa mentioned that it’s not about targeting just one group of sports fans. It’s about targeting a White Sox fan, a Cubs fan, a Bulls fan, and a Blackhawks fan all separately. Catering to what they want.

Wadhwa described how the Blackhawks gained a huge female following within the past year because they have handsome players. The team started to cater to the female fan while still holding onto their 18-34-year-old male demographic and how it was “genius.”

The future is bright for someone like myself, and many others in my generation. We have a whole array of tools at our disposal to branch out to different audiences.

Go Away A-Rod

How the rest of the world feels about this whole thing.

Alex Rodriguez has been suspended 162 games, a full season in the MLB, the highest suspension given to a player for taking a performance enhancing substance.

It’s another black eye for the game for baseball. They once embraced the long ball, but now it’s coming back to haunt them. There are players getting suspended during the season, and offseason. The Hall of Fame has players who were once locks to get in, now find themselves off the ballot or not having a chance to get in.

If A-Rod says he loves the game and his “brothers” as much as he does, the best thing he can do is stay away from the game. What is there left to do? Sure he’s sitting on over 650 home runs, and is in the top 5 of most offensive categories, but at this point he’s circus that isn’t needed anymore.

The Yankees are due to owe A-Rod $60 million over the next three years. He also gets an extra $6 if he hits certain millstones, such as surpassing Willie Mays on the HR list.

He’s the richest player in MLB history, and now he is among the most infamous. He claims he only used from 2001-03. But he also lied about using preforming enhancing drugs in the first place. Who knows, he could turn out to be like Jose Conseco and never played a day in the majors clean in his life.

Take your money, don’t try to come out to spring training, just stay home and focus on taking the case to federal court.

UIC Flames doused at home.

The UIC Flames entered Tuesday night’s matchup riding a 4-game losing streak, they looked poised to break their losing streak against Youngstown State but the Penguins proved to be too much for them.

Despite a close first half, UIC looked lost in the 2nd. Turnovers and three pointers hurt the Flames and the Penguins went on a 17-2 run and they never looked back.

The Flames did try to mount a comeback but their efforts proved to be effortless and whenever they tried to get their offense going, the Penguins would hit a big shot or the Flames would turnover the ball.

UIC senior Kelsey Barlow led the Flames with 17 points, but Penguins’ guard Kendrick Perry led all with 23 points.

Me, the NSA, and you pt. 1

Paranoia is at an all-time high this year. When former CIA and NSA employee Edward Snowden leaked documents that detail how the Government hoards all of our data, and then scourers it’s way through all of it to find leads on terrorists.

Of course the public is outraged. I would be too. I am not a terrorist, and I don’t need the Government to go through my embarrassing Facebook posts to prove that. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be highlighting a reason why you should be worried about this. Continue reading
